Computer Repair Instructor Gets Re-Wired!

HI Group:

I've had my DBS STN since Jun '99. I'm 52 (53 in Mar!, had PD diagnosed in '91 after retiring from Navy (20 yrs) Feb '89. Taught electronics & computer repair Aug '89 - Feb 2000 (medically retired from teaching). Major symptoms were right hand tremor, foot dragging (when DBS out of adjustment), stiffness, rigidity of movement, drooling, not swallowing, sleep apnea, low voice - whispering...you know the drill. Not able to write legibly on demand or at a marker board, you know, the insignificant portion of teaching! My immediate supervisor stayed in a job he hated until I came to the realization that I wasn't able to do the kind of job that my students deserved. Once he had me on the retirement path, he moved on to a better, less stressful job! I had someone looking out for me & didn't realize it, at the time. True friends are a blessing. Filed for SS disability and got it first try after teacher's retirement approved my retirement. Still have not gotten the VA above 40% rating for right extremity tremor; a residual of Parkinson's syndrome. I'm going through VA voc-rehab to prove 100% unemployability! Hoops to jump through & barrels to jump over!

I feel (especially when I turn off the DBS!) lucky to have the tremor under control! I very rarely shut off my DBS. The tremor is extremely bad, unable to sleep with it off. I too will need the velcro zipper over my battery compartment! I will write again. You are welcome to rite to me too.
