Be prepared if you are considering DBS. The surgery is like going through Hell, and if it doesn't work, like it didn't for my wife, all you've got is medical bills and disappointment. It hasn't helped my wife at all, and she had her surgery in a place that is supposed to be among the best. We went there at great expense, and now only have the bills to show for it. (Insurance only covered about 80% of the cost.) This apparently is like magic for a lot of people, and I am happy for them, but for those of you considering having it done, just be aware it may not work at all, and all the doctors can do is scratch their heads and wonder what went wrong, since they're convinced the leads are placed well, etc.
