I had bilateral implants on 3/4/02. I am now in the process of having the wires replaced on the left side. It seems that one-by-one they broke even though the surgeon connected the thin lead wire to a heavier wire from my scalp to the transmitter. I was told this has been a problem--that I am not the only one. I wonder who else and how many others have had similar problems.? Mine was discovered when I went for a tune-up. The MD discovered 3 of the 4 electrode wires were not operational and since I was using one of the three, the circuit had zero current flowing. The right side is still OK -- at least it has presented no problems. I wonder who else has had similar problems? By the way, Last week I had the transmitter and heavier wire to the scalp replaced, and next week the lead through my brain to the STN will be replaced and I should be back in business (after 4+ months of less than ideal control of symptoms.
